The Cody Ringnecks Pheasants Forever (PF) chapter hosted the local Boy Scout Troop to help plant a ½ acre pollinator habitat project at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Hatchery on May 3rd. During the event, participants learned the importance of pollinating insects on the global food supply, made native bee nesting houses, and learned about the role pollinating insects play in the food chain for pheasant and quail chicks. After the project is established, participants will be invited back to assist the University of Nebraska in collecting data on the site to measure the success of the project.
Special thanks go to the Nebraska Environmental Trust, SportDog Inc., Nebraska Game & Parks Commission, University of Nebraska, Boy Scouts of America, and Cody Ringnecks Pheasants Forever for making this event possible!
This project is part of the organization’s National Youth Pollinator Habitat Program which supports local chapters across the country in educating and engaging youth and community groups on establishing critical pollinator habitat.
