Pheasants Forever Nebraska

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are launching a monumental initiative to protect and restore critical upland habitat and cultivate the next generation of conservationists and hunters.

Here, Every Acre Tells a Story:

Call of the Uplands is Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s first-ever comprehensive, national campaign: a $500 million effort to cultivate the next generation of conservationists and protect and restore upland habitat.

Our Call to Action:

The Call of the Uplands – Nebraska Outdoor Heritage initiative brings together dedicated citizens, hunter conservationists, farmers, ranchers, and new partners with a common cause – Helping conserve Nebraska’s outdoor traditions before it’s too late.

Being outdoors is a great way to spend time with friends and family. Yet, participation has declined among recent generations. Your donation will help us reach our goal of introducing 5,000 youth to the outdoors by 2023.

Youth Mentor Hunts: Our chapter volunteers help develop new hunters by spending time in the field and teaching them outdoor skills. Nebraska has held more than 1,000 mentored hunts for youth ages 12 to 15 impacting over 16,000 youth.

Next Steps Hunt Program: Pheasants Forever continues to expand and grow hunter recruitment opportunities. Next Steps is a pilot program to offer additional mentored opportunities beyond the one-time teaching experience.

Youth Pollinator and Outreach Events: Local chapter volunteers coordinate with grades schools to develop habitat and learn the importance of pollinators. Each year, 1,000 students plant pollinator habitat in Nebraska with opportunity to return and tag monarchs.

Help us reach our goal of 2 million acres of habitat enhancements by 2023. Your donation impacts programs that provide habitat for pheasants, quail, pollinators, monarchs, and other wildlife.

Pathway For Wildlife: Impacting habitat through innovative conservation practices across Nebraska including agricultural lands, community habitat, and grasslands. Funding secured for 1 more year with $400,000 obligated in first 18 months resulting in 21,000 acres.

Corners for Wildlife: Pheasants Forever establishes wildlife habitat on pivot irrigation corners. Current funding allows for 115 corners enrolled each year creating waiting lists.

Habitat Share Partnership: Enhancing public state agency Wildlife Management Areas by contracting conservation services. Current funding allows for 3500 acres impacted per year.

Nebraska hunters know what a tremendous privilege it is to offer high quality public access on private lands. With your help we will help provide more places to hunt, recreate, and enjoy.

Open Fields and Waters Program: Dedicated landowners have done their part, providing access to places to hunt, fish, and trap. With current funding levels, Nebraska offers 374,000 acres of public access on private lands with more interest than funding.

Stubble Access: Tall wheat and milo stubble fields provide excellent opportunities for hunters in the Southwest and Panhandle. More than 38,000 acres were enrolled in the program.

Saline Wetlands Conservation Partnership: Preserving and restoring 3,600 acres of Nebraska’s unique saline wetlands. Sites benefit a variety of plants and wildlife and offer more public access opportunities through partnerships, acquisitions, and easements.

Help us reach a brighter future by making an
impact on Nebraska’s outdoor traditions.

  • Protect 75,000 new, critical acres permanently: Many of these precious lands will be forever public for you and future generations to enjoy.
  • Reach over 1.5 million participants of all ages, genders and walks of life, getting them into programs celebrating the outdoors, conservation, hunting, and the shooting sports.
  • Work in Washington D.C. and state capitols for wild upland places and uplands wildlife.
