You can help create a brighter future by making an impact on Nebraska’s outdoor traditions today.

The Nebraska Outdoor Heritage initiative brings together dedicated citizens, hunter conservationists, farmers, ranchers, and new partners with a common cause – Helping conserve Nebraska’s upland habitat and traditions for current and future generations. Working together, we will leave a legacy greater than one of us alone.

YOUTH

With your support, the dream of a kid getting into the field this fall is one step closer to becoming reality. Your donation can help to introduce a kid to our upland traditions by providing opportunities to learn how to hunt with a mentor and participating in conservation programs. Your donation will help us reach our goal of introducing 800 youth to the outdoors annually.

Youth Mentor Hunts: Our chapter volunteers help develop new hunters by spending time in the field and teaching them outdoor skills. Nebraska has held more than 1,000 mentored hunts for youth ages 12 to 15 impacting over 16,000 youth.

Next Steps Hunt Program: Pheasants Forever continues to expand and grow hunter recruitment opportunities. Next Steps offers additional mentored opportunities for new youth and adult hunters.

Youth Pollinator and Outreach Events: Local chapter volunteers coordinate with grades schools to develop habitat and learn the importance of pollinators. Each year, 1,000 students plant pollinator habitat in Nebraska with an opportunity to return and tag monarchs.

HABITAT

With a small gift of $25, you can improve 1 acre of upland habitat, helping Pheasants Forever build stronger wildlife communities through unique programs and partnerships. Help enhance 150,000 acres annually for pheasants, quail, pollinators, monarchs, and other wildlife.

Pathway For Wildlife: Innovative conservation practices help enhance wildlife habitat on grasslands, croplands, working lands, and within local communities across Nebraska. PFW habitat projects create quality habitat for pheasants, quail, grassland songbirds, monarch butterflies, native bees, and other wildlife. Since 2019, over 560 projects have been enrolled, impacting 125,000 acres.

Habitat Share Partnership: This unique partnership program improves habitat on public Wildlife Management Areas for upland game birds and other wildlife. Since 2010, Habitat Share has improved over 45,000 of upland habitat. In addition to habitat benefits, the program provides job opportunities for local contractors.

ACCESS

Your donation can open upland habitat to public access, providing Nebraskans with more places to pursue their outdoor passions. Nebraska hunters know what a tremendous privilege it is to offer high quality public access on private lands. Thank you for your generous support.

Open Fields and Waters Program: Dedicated landowners have done their part, providing access to places to hunt, fish, and trap. With current funding levels, Nebraska offers 375,000 acres of public access on private lands with more interest than funding. Sites include CRP, rangeland, and tall wheat stubble.

Saline Wetlands Conservation Partnership: Preserving and restoring 3,600 acres of Nebraska’s unique saline wetlands. Sites benefit a variety of plants and wildlife and offer more public access opportunities through partnerships, acquisitions, and easements. Saline Meadows and Helmuth Marsh are owned by Pheasants Forever and provide public access close to Lincoln and Omaha.
